MyDieCuts.com FAQs

Get the straight scoop on the whys and hows...

If you have a question of your own, please drop us a line.

Q: Why did you make this website?
A: My wife is a scrapbook enthusiast, and when I learned about the CraftRobo, I bought one for her as soon as I could! After spending time on the great forums and groups that are dedicated to cutter machines, I realized that forums are not well-suited for sharing cutter files because:
  • They are not easy to search and browse - each project must be dowloaded to see what it is.
  • There is no rating system to provide feedback on the quality of the project
  • There is no way to recognize the contributors for sharing their work

It is our hope that this site will help to fill these gaps.
Q: Just what is a MyDieCuts project?
A: A project is a grouping of files and associated information that others may find useful. It may contain a tutorial, or it might have a .GSD or .KNK file. MyDieCuts members can create their own projects for others to see.
Q: Why should I become a member?
A: Becoming a member allows you to give and get feedback on the site's projects by:
  • Reviewing projects that others have submitted
  • Uploading your own projects for others to use and review
Of course, we want all feedback to be encouraging and constructive. Any comments/feedback that is too harsh will be removed, and repeated offenses may result in the loss of membership.
Q: Could you give more details on the copyright options for projects?
A: The project upload page offers three copyright specifications:
  • Public Domain. This means that anyone can use your project for any purpose - personal, commercial, or charity.
  • Personal Use Only. This means that the uploaded project allows someone to use the project for their own private collection. Any other use (charity, commercial, for profit) or distribution channel (other websites, email, etc.) requires the permission of the author.
  • Personal and MyDieCuts Use Only. This encompasses Personal Use, but it also allows MyDieCuts to use the project for commercial purposes to support the costs of running the MyDieCuts website. Click to see why you should support MyDieCuts. Any other use (charity, commercial, for profit) or distribution channel (other websites, email, etc.) requires the permission of the author.

If you suspect that a project violates copyright, please notify us immediately. Copyright is a complicated area of law, but for some general guidance, take a look at this copyright description page.
Q: How will MyDieCuts use my project?
A: When you upload a project using the "Personal and MyDieCuts Use Only" or "Public Domain" copyright, MyDieCuts might use the project to cut and ship paper (or other media) in exchange for a fee.
MyDieCuts will use these fees to pay for hosting, bandwidth, development, materials, and associated costs.
When you upload a project using the "Personal Use Only" copyright, MyDieCuts will NOT use your project in exchange for a fee (as described above), in accordance with copyright law.
Q: How does the project search work?
A: The MyDieCuts.com search feature (located at the top of every page) allows you to locate projects that the authors have categorized by project tags, software type, and project type.
As an example, enter pumpkin in the search box, and every project that has pumpkin in its tags will be returned. Enter pumpkin halloween and every project that has both pumpkin and halloween in its tags will be shown. Enter the quoted phrase "pumpkin patch" and the exact phrase (including the space) must appear in the tags to be shown.
For software type, enter christmas sw:knk to find christmas files that are compatible with KNK Studio. For RoboMaster, use sw:cr, and for WinPCSign use sw:wpc.
For project type, enter love type:title will return every project tagged love that is also a title, whereas type:card will return all of the card projects. The following list has all of the possible type specifiers:
  • type:diecut
  • type:title
  • type:printncut
  • type:card
  • type:box
  • type:font
  • type:tutorial
  • type:other
Q: Are any discounts available in your store?
A: We would love to earn your business, and for a limited time, we will put our money where our mouth is! Contact us with the items that you want to purchase, and we will send you an email with the details.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We use Paypal, which allows payment with a paypal account, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex, and Echeck. By using Paypal, your financial information is only stored on their secure systems, which exposes you to less risk.
When you pay with Paypal account or credit card, your order is processed immediately. When using Echeck, the transaction is not complete until after 3-4 business days, after which your order will be shipped.
Q: How are MyDieCuts products shipped?
A: For reliable and safe delivery, we use FedEx. The prices shown in the shopping carts are for FedEx Ground, which arrives in 1 to 5 business days in the continental US (ECheck customers will take 3-4 days longer, see above).
To ship outside the continental US (including international orders), or to use another FedEx shipping option, please contact us.
Q: What is the return policy?
A: Returns are available on unopened merchandise within 15 days of shipment for a refund or exchange. Returns will be charged a 15% restocking fee. You must contact MyDieCuts.com for an RMA number before returning items.
Shipping for the returns is the buyer's responsibility, unless the return is due to error on the part of MyDieCuts.com. The return must be received by MyDieCuts no later than 30 days after you receive the RMA number in their original, unopened packaging.
If the return does not meet these conditions, MyDieCuts will not issue a refund. The item will be returned to you at your cost for shipping. If you decide you don't want to pay the shipping costs, the item will become the propery of MyDieCuts.
MyDieCuts is not responsible for lost or misdirected items
Q: What is the policy on damaged or defective items?
If you receive a damaged or defective item, MyDieCuts needs to be contacted immediately. We will then work together with the manufacturer to repair or replace, as needed. Refunds will not be given.
Electronic products are covered by warranty against manufacturer defects, usually 12 months. If your product does have a defect, you will ship it to the manufacturer for repairs. Please check your hardware configurations and the spec sheets on the cutters before you buy. We are not responsible if your hardware is not compatible, needs to be reconfigured, or if the computing environment does not meet the needs of the cutter.
The blades are easily damaged when dropped or handled incorrectly. Blades are checked to be free from defects prior to shipping, and are shipped with protective packaging to prevent damage. Because of this, there are no returns or replacements for the blades.
